Background and Clinical Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist with a Master's in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. I have over 5 years of experience working with children and families in a variety of settings that include a children's hospital, an outpatient mental health clinic serving children and families, and an elementary school setting. These experiences have clarified my guiding belief in the importance of access to quality mental health support for children and their caregivers.
I am a childhood cancer survivor, and grew up with a prosthetic leg. Long before becoming a therapist, I was acutely aware of the value of belonging and connection, and the ways that illness, trauma, and disability can affect one's sense of belonging. My clinical approach is rooted in the belief that as human beings, we are all seeking to feel a sense of belonging in our families and communities, and that healing takes place in the context of safe, trusting relationships. When it comes to yourself and your family, you are the expert. I will work with your family toward your goals using a variety of tools including play, expressive arts, mindfulness and trauma informed practices and will always seek to provide warmth, unconditional positive regard, and compassion.
While not an exhaustive list, I may be a good fit for your family if you or your child is experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or loss, if your child is having behavioral difficulties at home or at school, if you or your child have experienced a traumatic or difficult event, or if your family is experiencing a change and having difficulty adjusting. I am proud to be a part of the Flatwater provider network. Flatwater provides mental health therapy in the wake of cancer and connects individuals with therapists to help clear their mind, heal their body, and find the strength to take on a diagnosis. Get care. Get involved.
